So Bobby and I just recently went through some not so fun adult experiences. This past Monday morning, I was checking our bank account because I had to pay all of our bills this week. I noticed that our balance was low and thought maybe the church forgot to pay me. As I looked at the transaction details, the 1st three transactions that pop up are ATM withdrawals totaling almost $1500! Withdrawals we definitely did not make.
To make a long story short - somehow Bobby's old debit card was compromised, meaning that they somehow duplicated his card (which he had shredded a couple of weeks back) and got his pin too. So when we filed our 1st claim with the bank - they denied it because whoever used had Bobby's debit card had his pin number and it worked the 1st time. I had to go down to the police station and file a report and then we had to file a 2
nd claim because the fraud agent said that it was
suspicious activity on our account because we don't take out that kind of money at an ATM.
Luckily, the bank accepted our 2
nd claim and we were reimbursed the money. But let me ask you, how many times do you just give your debit card to someone and they walk away with it (at a restaurant) or they turn around and swipe your card. Be extremely cautious where you use your card. This was not fun to go through. And we are so thankful for Bobby's parents who were able to front us the money so that we could pay our mortgage and not overdraft our bank account.
Being an adult is no fun sometimes but it is life and I know that both Bobby and I have learned a HUGE lesson from this! So please learn this lesson from us and be extremey careful where you use your debit cards!
