The Judgement Police

From the time you start telling people you are pregnant - everyone...and I mean EVERYONE has their own 2 cents to put in. And I get a lot being that I work at a church and everyone has something to say about my parenting style (I'm kind of wishing I could turn all those cents into real money...because I would be rich and could stop working!!!). But what I don't get is even though you are encouraged to do what is best for your child that if you don't do something a particular way - then judgement is passed. And that truly frustrates me to no end. Everyone has an opinion on how long you should breastfeed, whether or not your child should be vaccinated, how many naps per day your child has, whether you cosleep, cry it out, or rock to sleep, if you work or stay at home, how you discipline, etc, etc. There is an argument to practically everything that comes along with parenting.

But as mothers, don't we know best that every child is different and not one is handled the same way? I've had my fair share..."oh I would never do that with my child" and end up doing it! So instead of giving the side eye, we should be encouraging one another on how we are raising our children.

My hope for Emma is that she will grow into a God-fearing woman and learn to love the Lord with all her heart mind and soul. What difference does it make if she takes one nap or two naps? It doesn't! But if Bobby and I decide that she needs one nap instead of two - then so be it!

Sorry for my rant today - I guess my point is this - If you are a mother and you are reading this, let's do a better job at encouraging one another. Sure it is fine to give your 2 cents (because believe me you...I have given my fair share) but if someone decides to pass, let them. There is good reasoning behind it and they are doing what is best for their child. As long as the child is healthy, happy, and thriving in life - then let mom and dad make the decisions for what is best for their child.

I promise this weekend to update with a super cute Emma picture because we do have quite a few of those!

Don't let anyone make you feel bad for your choices. We always think as parents that OUR way is the best way and just have to remember it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks... you know your child better than anyone else :)

It's always good to listen to advice given by other experienced mothers but experimenting their advices is purely our choice..Your baby is so cute!
